Track

Firebird - East Track (Clockwise Direction)

20,000 S. Maricopa Road

Chandler, AZ 85226

Enter at "Gate 1" (this gate is easy to miss! It is immediately next to the Chevron gas station)

Paddock / Gate Times

Fri: 12PM-9PM

Sat: 6AM-9PM

Sun: 6AM-6PM

PRE-Event and Paddock Setup

NASA does NOT paddock on the infield of the track. We park outside of the track to maximize everyone's track time by not having to spend 2-3 extra mins for each session to allow cars back and forth across the track. It is also safer as it is impossible to contain all cars and participants from getting too close to the on-track cars.

Waiver

Anyone entering the facility that did NOT sign the NASA digital waiver will need to stop and sign. If you are not stopped (or no one is present at the gate), please go to Driver Info to do this prior to the Sat morning Drivers Meeting.

Driver Information - The place to get any questions answered!

  • Location: Just outside "the tan RV" in the designated Admin area (see red area on paddock map).
  • NOTE: If the weather does not cooperate, it will be relocated inside the RV
  • Self Serve Forms: A small black plastic file cabinet is located on the table to grab whatever you need (Ex: tech sheets, track maps, flag FAQ, etc).
  • Schedule: Printed versions of the schedule will be in a small white plastic cabinet here
  • HPDE1 should “check in” with registration. All other groups will receive their "Driver" wristband from their Group Leader after the Driver's Mtg

Rules

NASA Club Codes & Regulations: http://nasaproracing.com/rules/ccr.pdf

NASA Arizona Supplemental Rules: https://nasaaz.com/nasa-arizona-supplemental-rules/

Tow Hooks

AZ Local Supplemental Rule:  We do not force HPDE cars to have tow hooks. BUT, if not having one causes a delay to the schedule, you will be penalized with loss of track time. Time Trial cars are required to have front and rear tow hooks to get an Annual Tech.

“What time should I arrive?”

This is the #1 question asked by folks new to NASA. We recommend ~45 mins prior to the drivers meeting (give or take 15 mins) to ensure there is ample time to find a spot to unload your car, check in with Driver Info (if you’re HPDE1) and get your car through tech and any other last min items. See the schedule (posted below or attached) for exact timings.

Tech Inspection

HPDE cars require an onsite tech inspection (1 tech inspection is good for either/both days). Please print and fill out the "HPDE Tech" Form prior to arriving at tech. Forms can be found @ Forms - NASA (drivenasa.com)

Drivers Meetings / Downloads

The Sat AM drivers meeting is mandatory for ALL drivers, instructors, officials/admin. All other meeting times and locations will be announced by your Group Leader.

Flag Knowledge

A list of flags and their meaning is available in the "Self Serve Forms" cabinet at Driver Info if you do not have these memorized. We have also standardized on the following flags:

  • White Flag (waving) - @ Start/Finish for HPDE4 only to indicated the session will end soon (NOTE: This is done for participants who may be running are running other competition groups so they won't be late to grid).
  • Black flag w/ white X - Your transponder is not working (only used in Race & Time Trial sessions)
  • Red flag - "Stop", but please do so smoothly and on the right side of the track

Rental Helmets

Rental helmets are available @ $20/day which will be available for registered drivers first. Helmet rentals for passengers will be on a 1st come 1st served basis after the Drivers Meeting.
